Hi, This morning at about 9:30 am, I walked my dog at South Mastic Picnic area, starting at the end where the parking lot almost meets the river. about halfway back, I saw ga big graceful winging bird, and I knew it would be the great blue heron. I turned, he came to land in the river. I enjoyed him there, then was about to turn, when a herring gull caught my eye. All of a sudden, right over my head, the BE came flying over, crossing the river, and settle in a tree! he stayed there for quite a while until I could stride back to my car, get my binocs and get back to my premium viewing poit on the path. Also seen were quite a few chickadees and titmice, a carolina wren, and was also treated to a wonderful display from a song sparrow! Of course there were a couple of robins, too, and a small group of starlings. Happy birding! Blessings....
