6 members of the Darke Co. Birders braved the cold on Sat. Jan 1 and located these species including one long eared owl. Kevin Schieltz found the owl 2 weeks ago on Dec. 22 so it could be included in the CBC week count and refound it yesterday. Sparrows were few and far between. We only found tree and song sparrows. > Location: Darke Wildlife Area > Observation date: 1/2/10 > Notes: also includes area at Bear's Mill and along Greenville Creek. > Number of species: 23 > > Canada Goose 22 > Mute Swan 1 > Sharp-shinned Hawk 1 with a catch > Red-tailed Hawk 2 > American Kestrel 3 > Rock Pigeon 15 > Mourning Dove 1 > Long-eared Owl 1 > Red-bellied Woodpecker 2 > Downy Woodpecker 1 > Blue Jay 2 > American Crow 3 horned larks 15 > Carolina Chickadee 1 > Tufted Titmouse 2 > White-breasted Nuthatch 1 > Eastern Bluebird 3 > American Robin 5 > European Starling 12 > American Tree Sparrow 14 > Song Sparrow 1 > Dark-eyed Junco 5 > Northern Cardinal 2 > American Goldfinch 2 Location: Shawnee Prairie Reserve Observation date: 1/2/10 Notes: Also includes area around Greenville Number of species: 14 Canada Goose 78 Mallard 21 Red-tailed Hawk 1 Mourning Dove 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker 1 Downy Woodpecker 1 Blue Jay 1 American Crow 3 Carolina Chickadee 1 White-breasted Nuthatch 1 European Starling 6 American Tree Sparrow 3 Dark-eyed Junco 3 Northern Cardinal 2 This report was generated automatically by eBird v2(http://ebird.org) > > This report was generated automatically by eBird v2(http://ebird.org) > ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
