Hello - The Northern Shrike was still at Bath Nature Preserve on 1/10/10 (thanks for the heads up, Sandy!). It was perched on the top of the big tree that is on the right after the horse barn on the Bridle Trail further away away from the path toward the Field Station. This is still in the vicinity of Sandy's original location of mile marker 3 on the North Fork Trail. Also saw: At least 2 BC chickadees At least 2 Tufted Titmice At least 3 Am. Robins At least 5 garrulous Blue Jays Red-Bellied woodpecker Heard several nuthatches Also saw two big hawks perched and in flight. If anyone has any good identification tips for Ohio hawks for novices, I would appreciate it. Except for obvious red shoulder hawks, it seems that anything else I see *could* be a red tail (in addition to the obvious red tails)! Sigh.
