Western EcoSystems Technology (WEST), Inc is seeking a temporary, part-time employee to conduct avian point count surveys, breeding bird surveys, Anabat surveys and other biological surveys in the Columbus Ohio area. Survey sites are several proposed wind energy developments in Ohio. Workload is approximately 4-5 days of work/week during spring and fall, will be less in summer.  Rental vehicle provided for field work. No housing provided. Salary $16.00/hour.
  
Qualifications: B.S. or graduate degree in biology preferred although skilled undergraduates are encouraged to apply.  Must have at least one year of experience conducting bird surveys. Must have the ability to identify birds by sight and sound.  Valid driver’s license required.  Previous experience using GPS, aerial photos & maps to navigate a plus.  Must be able to work independently while maintaining good communication with field supervisor.  The duration of the position is March 15 through December 15, with the possibility of work extending into future months.
