Hi Folks, Thank you all for the info you sent on this thread. I am a birding newbie really struggling and very jealous of all of your birds AND identifications. One of my adult sons has permanently "borrowed" my binoculars so I read your thread with much interest. So a little while ago I ordered a set at a price that I could afford. While your Vortex and Eagle Optics are interesting I learned a lot, I simply had to buy a cheaper set. So what have I ordered? Can it do what most of you want, or will it simply take me a little further along on my Birding career? The binocs I ordered were the Nikon 7266 Action 10 x 40 mm's on deep discount sale at Amazon.com Surely I can start out with these and maybe buy a better pair later. please advise, sincerely, joe d phillips pataskala ---- Mikaela Gioia Howie <[log in to unmask]> wrote: > HI everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for all the suggestions on binoculars. I purchased a pair of 8x42 Vortex Stokes DLS binocs from Wild Birds Unlimited on Riverside in Columbus. I got a great deal (really great) and the staff was very helpful. Of course, I did a lot f research before deciding on these and I was going to get the Eagle Optics Ranger 10x42 (the same as my old and borrowed pair) but the Vortexes were much higher quality for not such a higher price. Anyways, thanks again for all the suggestions! > Mikaela > > Mikaela G.
