On Sunday March 21 from 8-12pm, Sean Williams, OWU student will lead a waterfowl/birding identification session at the Delaware Wildlife Area. Please stop by anytime during his 4 hour window on Sunday to get a few ID tips from Sean. He has been keeping a list from OWU and his school list is becoming quite impressive too! On behalf of Columbus Audubon, we thank you Sean for offering to provide an 'extra' program during Waterfowl Madness this March. Sean had offered to do a program during the OOS/CA Waterfowl Symposium Sun. Feb. 28 field trip and with the frozen tundra he was unable to do so. He kindly offered to do this make up session. You can also visit www.columbusaudubon.org to learn more. See you there this Sunday! Darlene Sillick Powell, Ohio Date: Sunday March 21 Time: 8-12pm Trip: Birds and Waterfowl of Delaware Wildlife Area Description: Migrating waterfowl and other waterbirds congregate at Delaware Wildlife Area by the thousands. The expansive Leonardsburg Marsh provides superb views of any dabbling duck, but also holds many diving ducks. Delaware Reservoir also attracts diving ducks, as well as deeper-water birds: namely loons, grebes, and (rarely) scoters. Join Ohio Wesleyan U. student and expert birder Sean Williams to see spring migration and northbound waterfowl visiting Delaware Wildlife Area as they head to their breeding grounds. Directions: Go north on Rt 23 and turn right or east on Main Rd. This turn is a few miles north of the town of Delaware and just south of the dam. When you arrive to the T, turn left on Panhandle. The first right is Leondardsburg Rd, but Sean will be stationed at the parking lot south of the intersection of Panhandle Rd. and Leonardsburg Rd. This is just past the Eagle observation area and over the dyke.
