This is for Saturday March 20. This is the first day I have been able to do a count in quite a while due to ice on the lake. There was still a bit of ice with ice extending about 200 yards from the shoreline, 300 yards or so of open water and then more ice. All the birds were in the area of open water. There were a lot of ducks around and low numbers of gulls. There was almost a constant movement of red-breasted mergansers all morning. Nothing out of the ordinary. I birded from Fairport to Lorain after this and saw a lot more birds here than any where else. There will be more about that in another email.
