Here is a picture of horned owlets that I took a week or so ago. Cute little buggers. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bugtrumpet/4464860770/ The mother was in a pine tree with eyes closed sleeping but the owlets were wide awake. Maybe it was all of the "click-gzzz" sounds of the 6-7 people standing there taking picture after picture that kept them awake. But then, it is always hard to get the kids to sleep when you want them to. Saw the orange color like the breast of a robin, panels of color on the head. It wasn'ta hawk. And I hadn't seen this bird before, so I though maybe it was a peregrine falcon. But when I started looking at pictures, I needed to find a bird with more orange. Hence the kestrel guess. It was in the top of a tree on Greenlawn, right outside the cemetery. (I was checking on the baby owls, who are growing so quickly! and so camouflaged against the tree.)
