Spent the morning at Wildcat Hollow Hiking Trail on the Athens Ranger District of the Wayne (70D2). Unfortunately, a lot of trees are down due to recent high winds but the towhees seem to be loving it as they were heard in great numbers within all the "brush". The only migrant heard and seen was the Louisiana Waterthrush in several locations. Excuse my being OT: Also, spent time trying to identify the small "butterfly" I watched flitting around the trailhead parking area....only to discover (after exhausting all my butterfly field guides) that it was actually a moth - the Grapevine Epimenis. Very pretty. I looked it up (or tried looking it up) on the USGS Butterflies and Moths of North America site but couldn't find it on there for OH. Any moth experts out there that can tell me more about this species and its occurrence in Ohio? Covell's Peterson guide (1984) has it as Psychomorpha epimenis. Thanks!
