Having enjoyed seeing the Red-throated Loons at Magee Marsh over the past weekend , it is nice to be back in Central Ohio watching and listening to the Warblers making their way northward. Yesterday, we had several sightings of Prothonotary Warblers in and around the Ohio State University campus by both myself and the friend that witnessed the red--throated loon sighting. By the way, the loons we saw did not resemble any grebes in any way, thus eliminating any confusion about the matter. Loons do have wings and are mobile so I do not expect them to "wait around" and be in the exact spot or locale we saw them a few days ago or even a few minutes ago. There will always be opportunities for folks to be in the right spot at the right time to see lesser common species.
