Hi everyone, Yesterday, Beth and I stopped at William Tricker's, the pond garden center in Independence (Cuyahoga Cty) that we enjoy visiting every once in a while. Needed a couple of things for our small back-yard pond. Last year and this we have started to wish it could be larger, as for the first time we're being visited regularly by a Red-winged Blackbird or two, and have fantasies of a nest...well, pure fantasy. At tricker's, we walked through their greenhouse, which is mostly open tanks of exotic water lilies, papyrus, and various other plants. Nothing we'd put into our native-plant pond, but fun to look at. What we saw there, a bit of Spring under the glass that was being pelted by a mid-April snowfall (ugh), was a damselfly--an Eastern Forktail. So despite the return of cold, rain and snow, we do think Spring is really around the corner.
