Three of the Glossy Ibis were present around noon today. They were easily seen, but not so easy to photograph through the reeds and brush. Don Koch was there when I arrived, and said they had a good supply of food (snails) but thought the local predators may have nabbed the fourth. http://tinyurl.com/chcy6v Laura Keene Mason, OH -----Original Message----- From: [log in to unmask] [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of robert lane Sent: Monday, April 26, 2010 11:26 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: 4 Glossy Ibis / Columbiana County This posting is at the request of Don and Judy Koch. Today at the Highlandtown Lake State Wildlife Area in southern Columbiana County, they saw 4 Glossy Ibis at noon and again at 6 PM. The birds were in the shallow backwater, easily visible from the Clarks Mill Road Boat Launch Area. To reach this site from the town of Lisbon, take SR164 south about 12 miles to SR39, turn left (east) and go about 3 miles, just before the school turn left onto Clarks Mill Road, go about 1.5 miles and turn right onto the boat launch road. Park at a pulloff on the left before the actual parking lot. Look for a pile of wooden pallets and scope from here to begin your search. This general area is a great place to explore, Woodcocks are common, Least Flycatcher has nested here.
