I know this is an Ohio list but Pelee Island is just north of Ohio on Lake
Erie. I got a chance to bird there yesterday and found a few new things for
the year especially down near Fish Point at the southern tip of the island.
A lark sparrow was by the road near the Pelee Island Winery and flew back
and forth from the vineyard to the low trees near the lake-was able to get
at least one bad picture.
Also saw my first barn swallow of the year on the islands, brown thrasher,
eastern phoebe, yellow-rumped warbler, eastern towhee, purple martins,
kestrel, lots of chipping sparrows, turkey vultures, great egrets, tree
swallows, robins, and I have never seen so many northern flickers
everywhere. A red-tailed hawk feeding on the ground at the Stone Road
Alvar. Ruddy ducks at the west dock as sighted by Bob Glauser and my
husband. I heard a mockingbird back on private property where I get a look
at it.
