Got down to the boardwalk briefly this morning and those south winds brought in some great birds!! Yellow Throated Warbler Yellow rumped Warbler Black and White Warbler Black Throated Green APRIL FOOLS........ The real story............. Lots of golden-crowned kinglets Hermit thrushes are here Brown Creepers Fox Sparrows ( a beautiful bird) Phoebe (back at his usual spot near the tower) Winter Wren And one warbler..........a Louisiana Waterthrush Also the tree swallows are all claiming their nest boxes, butterflies were out (saw several Mourning Cloaks and two Commas) The frogs are singing (or should I say snoring) and lots of turtles out sunning. Just a great day to be out.......... The next two days south winds are predicted, so it should only get better each day. Even later today would be worth checking it out. If you come on Saturday, we are having Bald Eagle Day here from noon until 4 pm. BACK TO THE WILD will be at the bird center and we will be touring a couple of area nests. Stop in the Bird Center and see what is new................... Also we are offering a Birding Basics class on April 8 and April 15 from 7-9 pm .
