The Purple Gallinule was still at Columbia Reservation as of 930 AM this morning. It was extremely cooperative and very easy to find. If any of you are even remotely considering going to see this bird, don't hesitate, just go do it! I went before work today. I was in my suit, tie and dress shoes. The trail is paved. The Lorain County Metro Parks have posted photos/signs with arrows pointing to the bird's location. I was in and out of the park in about 20 minutes. I wish I had more time to stay and observe the bird, but I'm very glad I at least spent some time and I was rewarded with some great views. I also had the opportunity to visit with about 6 or 7 other birders, including the well known local birder and author Jack Smith. It was great to chat birds with him. Had time to observe some Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and well as a pair of Yellow Warblers. Good birding.
