The Columbus Audubon trip to this Reynoldsburg MetroPark dodged raindrops all morning looking for migrant landbirds, with some success. When the rain eased (around 9:30ish), birds started to become active and sing, but the fallout from the rainy weather was modest at best. Notables included: Flycatchers - calling Great Cresteds in several places, and a few Phoebes Vireos - singing Red-eyed in many places, but nothing else. Naturalist Ben Warner had an early Philadelphia the prior day, but we couldn't relocate it. Gnatcatchers - common, often masquerading as warblers Thrushes - 6+ Wood Thrushes, including good looks at territorial birds. Also 4-5 Swainsons; Naturalist Ben Warner had a Veery early. Mimids - plenty of Catbirds, often singing from dense shrubbery Warblers - good diversity but low #s; species list included Parula (3+), Nashville (3+), Yellow-throated, Yellow-rumped (4+), Palm, Magnolia, Blackburnian (2), Black&White, Ovenbird, Common Yellowthroat (1), Hooded (4) Others - Scarlet Tanager (3+), Rose-br.Grosbeak (3 singing, 2 females at Nature Center feeders), Indigo Bunting (2) ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
