While kayaking up on Hoover Reservoir this morning, there was a flight of roughly 50 to 60 Whimbrel over the north end. They circled numerous times and flew as far south as the Sunbury bridge (estimated) and north near the boardwalk. It was obvious they were searching for some good habitat to land but they waved off their approach several times and eventually flew north. The link below is a photo of a small portion of the birds. There are two Osprey chicks on the platform south of the boardwalk. There may be a third but they sit pretty low in the nest. http://bsquaredphotos.smugmug.com/Birds/Sandpipers/Sandpipers/9205462_icqwx# 876394082_S6avv-A-LB Bob Hilliard, OH ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
