This evening (about 8:15) we got a great view of a male yellow-headed blackbird calling on Batelle-Darby Metropark property in southwest Franklin County. He was in the new wetland area along Darby Creek Drive. To reach the site, park in the little gravel lot at Darby Creek and Kuhlwein (north of the B-D Cedar Ridge area). Walk the trail past the first wetland. Darby Dan retreat is across the street. Walk the trail about 100 more yards north. He was on the east side of the trail once you get between the next two wetlands.

Other notables were at least 4 calling sora (one seen), savannah sparrow, song sparrows, barn swallows, greater yellowlegs, and lesser yellowlegs. There were surely more shorebirds, it was just getting too dark to see them all.
