I joined a bird walk at McGuffey Wildlife Preserve this morning, then explored some other areas in Coitsville Twp. (NE Mahoning Co.).  Locally new/notable were: 20 double-crested cormorants, 2 Am. kestrels, red-headed woodpecker, red-eyed vireo, horned larks, wood thrushes, gray catbirds, brown thrasher, blue-winged warbler, many yellow warblers, Tennessee warbler, yellow-rumped warblers, c. yellowthroats, scarlet tanager, white-crowned sparrows, 7 male boboinks, e. meadowlarks, and purple finch.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
