Hi all, If I remember right, a few days ago someone posted a description on Ohiobirds of a grackle flying with a mouse in its beak. Well, just now I looked out our window to see a Common Grackle on the ground, pecking away at something that turned out to be a dead mouse. It flew off carrying the mouse in it beak, then returned to a branch where it proceeded to eat the mouse by pulling away bits of meat, looking like some sort of shiny black hawk... I wonder if they're even allowed to do that in Cleveland Heights :-) Best wishes, Steve Cagan Cleveland Heights Cuyahoga County -------------------------------------------- Steve Cagan, photographer [log in to unmask] www.stevecagan.com www.pbase.com/stevecagan 216-932-2753 (USA) ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
