This afternoon there was a Great Egret at Pickerington Pond Metro Park in
Franklin County, a bit unusual this time of year. The bird was first seen
flying into Blue Wing Pond shortly after noon. A few minutes later I noticed
it had left, but an hour later I saw it fly from Arrowhead Marsh across Blue
Wing Pond and apparently land in Mallard Marsh.

Also present were two adult and two young Osprey, with one adult and the
chicks on the platform at Arrowhead Marsh and the second adult flying in
later, perching in a nearby bare tree.

I counted a total of 14 Great Blue Herons on the nests near Arrowhead Marsh
and Blue Wing Pond. I am not sure how many were adult and how many were
young.

Other expected common birds were present.
