Had a very nice day today. While having my mourning coffee, I went to the living room to see what creatures were at my feeder if any. To my surprise I had a Turkey with eight chicks picking through all the droppings under the feeder. Then a flash of red caught my eye--a pair of purple finches; and beside them a pair of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. Not a bad way to start your day. After finishing my coffee, decided to check on the weather. Called for rain late this afternoon, so I decided to venture forth and then pick up groceries on the way home. I swerved east of Chardon, and decided to do some hiking at Hell Hollow Wilderness Area. Cat birds, Red-eye Vireos, Flicker. Then I heard the Black-throated Green singing. High in a hemlock tree; a bright male. With 6 species of Dragons along the creek, it made for a perfect day.
