While the last day of school is nice to finally reach, I will miss the killdeers coming and going from the gravel-covered roof of our building. At home on the south shore of Nesmith Lake, in addition to spotted sandpiper antics and an epidendrum-loving hummingbird, a lone coot has been lingering with no signs of having a mate.
