Warm summer morning for our walk through the north part of Glen Helen. Today's walk around the Inman Trail was led by Steve Kress, who was the assistant director of the Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center from 1968-72 before he started the famed Project Puffin off the coast of Maine. Here's what we found: Northern flicker Red-bellied woodpecker Downy woodpecker Acadian flycatcher Eastern wood-pewee Carolina chickadee Tufted titmouse White-breasted nuthatch Carolina wren Yellow-throated vireo Red-eyed vireo Louisiana waterthrush Brown-headed cowbird Northern cardinal Indigo bunting House finch American Goldfinch House sparrow Next Glen Helen birdwalk will be next week -- July 10th, 9 am. Note that the walk will start at Grinnell Mill, at the intersection of Grinnell Rd and Bryan Park Rd. We'll hope to see a different variety of birds than the ones that typically show up in the north Glen. Likely suspects include Baltimore oriole, Northern rough-winged swallow, and red-shouldered hawk. -Nick -- Nick Boutis Director, Glen Helen Ecology Institute Antioch College 405 Corry St. Yellow Springs, OH 45387 [log in to unmask] 937-769-1902 www.glenhelen.org ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
