I'm writing for a colleague who is investigating whether preen gland
secretions of starlings and other species have the potential to repel
insects. She is hoping to sample a few more starling nestlings before
the breeding season is over. The sampling takes just a couple of minutes
and doesn't hurt the birds. If anyone knows of active starling nests
within a couple hours drive of Oberlin (Lorain County, North Coast), she
would love to hear from you. Please contact Mary Garvin
([log in to unmask]) directly.

Thanks,

Keith Tarvin, Oberlin
