There was a beautiful alternate plumage Laughing Gull on the beach at Alum Creek lake this morning, mixed in with a flock of 90 Ring-billed Gulls. Unfortunately, this beach will become a zoo of people tomorrow. I also hiked several of the trails at the north end of the reservoir, and forest birds were still much in evidence, including: Red-shouldered Hawks - calling on both the Maple Geln Trail and the Hunter's Hollow Trail Cerulean Warblers - 2 still singing along the Maple Glen Trail, a reliable spot for them here Louisiana Waterthrush - singles were still hanging around the ravine creeks along the Maple Glen and Hunter's Hollow Trails Ovenbird - 1 was singing partway down the Hunter's Hollow Trail Hooded Warblers - 2-3 were singing along the Hunter's Hollow Trail ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
