Correction--They were not Dowichers--I was mislead by the sewing machine motion but the bills were not long enough. 
I don't know shorebirds well enough to call them.  Very dark, scaly backs.

I stopped by at Ottawa NWR this afternoon.  The water in the pond to the=

 East is drawn down and there were several shorebirds--a willet, a silent=

 yellowlegs and two dowitchers, working the mud.  Not many but interesting=

.  Also geese, kelldeer and redwings.
