Over the past two weeks at Lakeview I've been able to spot red headed woodpeckers on two occasions, the most recent being this afternoon, as well as what appeared to be juvy baltimore orioles and flickers, of which there were lots, also apparently juveniles. Also an eastern kingbird fledgeling being fed and watched over by both parents. The red headed woodpeckers, at least two but probably more, were hanging out in and around a marked black locust tree on the upper level and visible from a road about two hundred yards due east of the dam overlook on the upper level. They regularly flew from there east into an area of oak trees near the large circle in the roadway on the upper eastern edge of the cemetery, near the large grassy field. The flickers were in the same area but seem to be all over the property lately. The kingbirds were in the bushes next to the spillway in the upper pond by Wade Chapel. Kingbird photos were from last week, flicker and r.h.w.p. from today.
