The Clay - colored Sparrow that has been feeding in our yard since April 29th has been successful in breeding for the second time this summer . We first observed him feeding young on June 26th and he began singing once more on June 29. By July 5th he was no longer feeding any of the three juvenile birds. He continued to sing until July 11. I suspected he was feeding a female sitting on a nest in some raspberry brambles in a nearby yard since he always flew the same direction when he left our yard. Yesterday I heard a fledgling in the shrubbery but could not see it. Today I did see a young bird while the CCSP fed it. I do not know yet how many fledglings or what female is involved. I suspect it is a Chipping Sparrow again.
