Hi all, I observed the BBWD at pipe creek from about 7 to 8 tonite. It was associating with mallards in the before described spot- take the trail into the wildlife area, then left, right, left and look at the island in the impoundment to the north (towards all the roller coasters). Easy to pick out- it is in almost full "breeding" plumage- bright pink legs and bill. There are lots of other birds in that impoundment too- of note were: A red-necked phalarope Snowy egrets Black-crowned night-heron (imm) Semipalmated and least sandpipers Short-billed dowitchers Both yellowlegs Blue and green winged teal Wood ducks Semipalmated plovers Caspian and common terns And two imm. Mute swans in the next impoundment to the east. That's all for now- got a long drive home. Good luck to anyone going tomorrow!
