I don't often get on the Maple Highlands bike trail in Geauga County in the early afternoon as I did today. A few diurnal raptors were present: 3 red-tailed hawks, a stealthy Cooper's, a red-shouldered calling at Eastbranch Reservoir from an area where they nest pretty much yearly, and last, but not least, a bald eagle down at the water's edge at the reservoir (getting a drink?) It stayed only a short while before flying off. There is an algae bloom warning notice posted at the reservoir. Makes me wonder if the water is toxic to avian species? ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
