I stopped by Horseshoe Lake (Shaker Lakes) late yesterday afternoon. Along with the usual wood ducks and mallards there were three green winged teal. Also, a juvenile black crowned night heron was hunting from an exposed perch. I was able to get right next to him on the trail in the shrubs and he was so intent on his fishing that he didn't fly off.
