One Le Contes Sparrow and three Sharp-tailed Sparrows were found in the
marsh at Arcola Creek Estuary today. The birds were in a wet area dominated
by smartweed and tearthumb in the southern end of the marsh. There were
also lots and lots of white-crowned, white-throated, swamp and song sparrows
in the marsh also. I also kicked up a couple Virginia rails and soras.

Movement through the marsh this year is extremely difficult due to the dense
vegetation and several inches of water in spots. Arcola Creek is a Lake
Metroparks facility in the extreme northeast corner of Lake County. It is
at the north end of Dock Road.
