Yesterday morning at around 11:30 a.m. I observed a flock of thousands of gulls at the Huron River and Hwy 2 bridge (North side of bridge.) Due to strong southerly winds (gusts up to 60+ mph on South Bass Island)from this historically low pressure system the river was as low as I have ever seen it. The gulls were at the edge of the water line in an extremely tight group. I was driving, but am pretty sure the majority were Bonaparte's Gulls. These dynamic weather systems can bring some interesting birding.
