Today a group of five birders including myself went on a trip to Killdeer Plains. On the way back to Columbus we made a quick stop at Big Island. The highlights of the day were a flock of about 50 to 60 sandhill cranes that flew over, about 25 tundra swans, a flock of 40 or so cackling geese, and some really good looks at some short-eared owls.
