Just returned from Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area in Trumbull county, where Jacob Saborse, Kevin Seydlorsky, and myself found a juvenile GOLDEN EAGLE. The bird was sitting on the ice viewable from the the boat access gravel road off of Hoagland Blackstub (opposite Mahan Denman). There are many people ice fishing here. I noticed the Golden amongst several (6-8) Balds after it alighted to survey a flock of several hundred Canada geese in the same area. Its white wing patches, white tail base, and even golden nape were clearly observed and stuck out strongly from the juvenile Balds. After watching it for a couple minutes, I ran to the car to grab my camera, but by the time I had returned it was being driven from the area by several of the Bald eagles. We tried to follow the bird and indeed found it soaring over the treeline on the other side of Hoagland - behind the parking area opposite the view of the lake. It perched and we viewed it at some distance for another extended period. I managed to obtain a brief, "Ivory-billed woodpecker-style" video of the eagle flying behind the trees. It's not much, but if you zoom in and watch frame by frame, the clean white wing pattern is visible. I would recommend downloading the movie directly to do this.
