I ventured out 12/15 to Hoover with my birding partner. It was unbelievably cold, but worth the trip. We were in search of the red-neck grebe, but were unsuccessful. However, we did see some lifers for us (this is our first year). We went to the Walnut St. parking area and the Dam. There were a lot of birds on the South side of the dam. Species of interest: Canada Geese (many) Mallards Ring-billed gulls Fly-by swans (trumpeter's I believe) Hooded Mergansers Bufflehead Ruddy Black ducks American Wigeon (I believe) Mystery duck (any ideas?) A couple of domestic white ducks Crows Blue Jays Double crested cormorant I have included pictures at www.flickr.com/photos/54181712@N07/ Since I am still new, I would appreciate any reviews. Thanks in advance. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
