The lake was quiet this morning, but the small birds were on the move at my yard in North Perry. I saw at least two flocks of common redpolls consisting of about 60 birds and 24 birds. The redpolls were feeding in the alder trees along the cliff and did not visit my feeders. I saw other birds that may have been other birds or the same flocks. This is the first decent redpoll movement of the year. The redpolls are not hanging around. If you are interested in looking I would check the alders along the shoreline. at my feeders I have been getting 20-40 pine siskins almost daily and a white-crowned sparrow. The white-crowned is an immature and it's the first I have had in the winter in about five years.
