Approximately 6 weeks ago Scott Albaugh watched a Peregrine eat a woodpecker from his deck near Colerain in Belmont Co.. Last Thursday a gentleman from Bridgeport (1-2 miles as the crow flies from Scott A's) brought in an injured peregrine he found near the Ohio River. As this bird is threatened and I am not a certified rehab facility, I can only stabilize and examine. This bird had a beak injury and a bloody spot on its right wing but otherwise stable. It was transferred to Medina the next morning. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The good-He/she will survive and should do well, the ugly-its injurues were caused by gunshot, the bad- we have a long way to go about educating a certain segment of the population. Scott Pendleton Post script- good news is I flushed my 7th grouse of the last three months this a.m.. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
