Island Road quarry has become a good local "watering hole" with most area still-water areas now frozen. This morning's aggregation included: Canada Goose - 1000+/- SNOW GOOSE - 1 immature white phase GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE - 5 TRUMPETER SWAN - 13 Am. Black Duck - 10-20 Mallard - 300-500 N. Pintail - 1-2 Green-winged Teal - 2 Redhead - 1 Common Goldeneye - 1 Am. Coot - 12-15 Although BALD EAGLES are regular visitors (right next to the Scioto - I've seen as many as 3 at one time here), none were present today. However, between the quarry and grasslands further north on Island Rd., the following raptors were seen: N. Harrier - 2 Red-tailed Hawk - 2 Am. Kestrel -1 Happy Birding!
