I found 1 WILSON’S SNIPE while walking along the east bank of the Great
Miami River, just south of the dam in Hamilton, Ohio, today around 12:30
p.m. The bird was hidden amongst the weeds along the rocky shore and let out
a loud “ski-ap” when it flushed. The bird had the tell-tale field marks of a
long bill, striped head and zebra-striped sides. This is most likely one of
the three birds that Mike Busam had on the Hamilton-Fairfield Christmas Bird
Count a few weeks ago. Thanks to Mike on the tip on where the birds have
been hanging out.

Trip list:
Canada Goose – 500
Mallard – 25
Hooded Merganser – 9
Great Blue Heron – 4
WILSON’S SNIPE - 1
