Went out around 11AM. Drizzle on and off, warm and no wind. Took the trail to the Lake and turned right following the cliff along the Lake to the east. Half way down, I found a flock of redpolls ( counted 41 ). When they dispersed going east, probably more like 50-60 all together. Headed back and just when the trail bears left to the parking lot, off to the west was another group of around 50 picking through the bare ground cover. There are alders along the cliff. The first group were in the alders actively feeding; they too dropped low in the thickets for awhile picking through the bare spots that were not snow covered. Not one gull seen out on the Lake. Otherwise relatively quiet. Great entertainment for an hour or so, even on a dreary day like today.
