I had great views of the juvenile Golden Eagle at The Wilds today. It was first seen flying near Cumberland Road between International and Prouty Road- with a look lasting almost a minute, most of which was spent by me fumbling for my camera, only to discover the battery was at home plugged into a kitchen outlet. So no photos:( It was later seen briefly perched in a tree on International Road east of the visitor center. A good amount of time was devoted to searching for the shrike, but no luck. A single Snow Bunting flew while we were driving down a road (off Rural Dale Rd, not sure of name). I was with the Birder Who Shall Not Be Named, due to work conflict today, who hit #100 birds for January. Golden Eagle was bird #99. A stop at the Olentangy River near OSU at dusk netted 4 Black-crowned Night Herons, #100. I am at #104 for January! ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
