John Switzer and I birded the Wilds and vicinity today, and located the Northern Shrike previously reported near the pull-off area on Coal Hill Road. A Red-shouldered Hawk was perched on a branch directly over 284 near Zeno Road. We saw several Rough-legged Hawks during the day, but did not see any eagles, either bald or golden. There were quite a few American Tree Sparrows on Zion Ridge, and Eastern Bluebirds and Robins on Rural Dale. Rising temperatures during the afternoon started melting the ice on the roads, and by the time we left the area around three, unpaved roads were turning to mud. It should be quite muddy after the even higher temps forecast for tomorrow.
