A few years ago this forum discussed an item that I believe Bill Whan turned up in the holdings of the Ohio Historical Society - an effigy labeled in the collection as representing a perigrine falcon, but that the members of this forum who viewed its photos agreed actually appears to be a carolina parakeet. I was in New York a couple of weeks ago, and at the Museum of Natural History I saw another bird effigy in the form of a 6" hammered copper plate that bore a design very much like the one in the OHS collection. It was simply labled "bird" on the display, but it also appears to be a carolina parakeet. I have a pic if anyone would like to see it. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
