Yesterday (2/17/11) I saw my first Red-winged blackbird of the season at my feeder. Then this morning I saw a flock of about 30 Red-winged Blackbirds mixed with Common Grackles fly overhead. About 3 of each then showed up at my feeder later. There seems to be a large movement of American Crows this morning as well-saw eight fly over and then another twelve over the airport this morning and then four more heading north from South Bass toward Middle Bass. Spring must be in the air-except for the fact that we are still ice-fishing!
