It is useful now and will get better and better as more data is put into it. I must admit to having been very critical of eBird in the past and I still have some reservations about its statistical soundness, especially the assumption that eventually the good data will overwhelm the bad. However, the on-line entry has solved most of the problems that made the earlier versions so cranky and irritable and the products are looking not only accurate, but useful, too.
