When I arrived, a couple were looking through their scope at some Snow Geese in the middle of the lake. They left when I got out of the car. I scoped the geese, counting at first 25 Snow Geese. I could of swore that I saw at least one Ross's mixed in. The wind and waves and heat distortion made it difficult to make it out. They took flight after a imm. Bald Eagle flew over and I was able to get a very distant flight shot of the geese. A Red-necked Grebe also made a brief appearance, but I could not relocate it after the eagle shuffle. The geese were gone by 6pm. For pictures of the geese: http://donaldthebirder.blogspot.com/2011/03/spring-day-winter-birds.html Birds of Note: 24 Snow Geese (~7 dark), possibly 1 or more??? Ross's Goose, 1 Red-necked Grebe (looked like it was going to topple over head first - life bird), 1 imm Bald Eagle, 1 Bufflehead, Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Ducks, 2 Killdeer, 1 imm. Herring Gull. --- Donald Morse Jr. New Richmond, OH ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
