The grebe was present at 1:00 - 1:30 yesterday afternoon in strong gusty winds; I left about 1/2 hour before the storms moved through. -----Original Message----- From: [log in to unmask] [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Doreene Linzell Sent: Sunday, April 03, 2011 11:40 AM To: Ohio-Birds Subject: Red-necked Grebe The grebe was just seen at the middle wetlands at Deer Creek. Turn on Egypt Rd. and park at the second pull-off on the left. Walk the roadway back (rubber boots essential). At the ponds turn left and walk a wide grassy path to a smallrise (woods on your left). Using a scope scan for the grebe. There is a lot of waterfowl present. The grebe was to the left. Field Sparrows were singing on territory. A Fox Sparrow was singing in the woods. Also a Brown Thrasher was seen in the woods.
