I went to Villa Angela/Wildwood SP in Cleveland on Lake Erie today from 4:45pm to 7:20pm. It was approx 44 deg, SE to S winds 12mph and rained most of the time, lighter closer to 7pm. Late in the day it was more birdy today than yesterday late when it was nice. Just a few observations: Long-tailed Duck 1 female still present in the marina (didn't see 4/21) Black-crowned Night-Heron 1 adult west side of Euclid Creek down from bathhouse Red-breasted Mergansers 30-40 seen in front of Villa Angela Double-crested Cormorants 950-1000, seen around 7pm flying west in long single file strings of 130, 100, 280, 130 etc etc almost continuously in less than 8 mins then ended - seen from Villa Angela shoreline (did not see the beginning of this) Spotted Sandpiper 1 further down Euclid Creek in Wildwood (FOS for me) Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 1 VA Northern Flickers 5 Brown Creepers 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglets 6 Hermit Thrush 9 Brown Thrashers 2 Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 VA Eastern Towhee 5 (3m, 2f) many calling Field Sparrow 1 White-throated Sparrows ~ 30 Fox Sparrow 2 Lots of Red-winged Blackbirds calling and Robins Nancy Anderson Richmond Hts, OH http://www.flickr.com/photos/nancy_a/ ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
